For so many of the children and adolescents we serve, it is difficult for them to express the feelings and emotions they are experiencing as the result of his/her abuse.
For one yound lady, poetry and art is her form of expression. When you read her words, typed exactly as she has written, please "listen" to how she really feels.
Abuse has such an impact on our children's self-esteem and emotional well-being. It is my hope that by coming to our center she will leave us knowing and believing just how smart, beautiful and worthwhile she is to those she touches. For her smile lights a room and one day our hope is she will know how much she shines and believe she can live a happy life.

Lynn Hart
Executive Director

They say she's beautiful, they say she's sweet, but sometimes in her mind she's the OPPOSITE.

They love her smile, they love her style, but it seems she has hated it all this TIME.

They say she's unique, they say she's cool, but sometimes she felt she never COULD be.

They love her looks, they love her shape, but sometimes the things they love about her she HATES.

You'll think she's fine and always happy, but you'll never know how she feels EXACTLY.
