Alma Torres is the Family Advocate/Office Manager for the Russell County Child Advocacy Center. She has been employed with the center for eight years. Ms. Torres has been working with children for twenty-seven years in various capacities. She also serves as a spokesperson for the center in the Executive Director's absence. She has a degree in General Studies and is attending Troy University to obtain a degree in Social Work.

Ms. Torres runs a support group for non-offending caregivers. She assists and supports families throughout the judicial process and supports them during what can be an emotional and traumatic event for victims and their families. Abuse can cause great turmoil for families in crisis. Ms. Torres also provides referral services and accompanies families to court. She and Ms. Murillo are working diligently to provide services offered by the center to an underserved Hispanic population by attending Spanish radio and television interviews as well as conducting adult survivor groups and support groups- to include Spanish speaking consumers. Because she is bi-lingual, she is asked to translate for DHR and the court system, which makes her an invaluable resource to the community. Her energy and desire to educate the community about the center and services available to them is paramount.
